Hello and welcome to my fledgling attempts to join the blogging universe; I’m so glad you could stop by and spend a few minutes with me. Being from the south and having good manners drilled into me from birth, I guess I should properly introduce myself: my name is DeeDee and as you can probably tell from the name of my blog, I am a needlecrafter. I mainly knit, sew, and quilt, but I have also dabbled in smocking, crochet, cross-stitch, needlepoint, embroidery, and even tatting. My first love right now is knitting (with sewing and quilting tied for second) so if you become a regular visitor you will mostly be reading about my knitting adventures with other fiber related projects thrown in as inspiration strikes.
I guess we should get better acquainted: I am 49 years old, married for nearly 30 years to the world’s only perfect man (no, really!), have 4 grown sons, 3 daughters-in-law and 4 grandchildren. My husband is an ordained minister, so we are very involved in church. If you are a regular blog reader, you know that the ‘stuff’ of our everyday lives like kids, jobs, pets, travels, etc. weaves itself into our online worlds. Well, God is more than just a part of my life, He is the center, so He will make His presence known here on occasion. However, I promise never to purposefully offend, so please feel free to visit often no matter what your religious preferences might be. Now on to the good stuff!

I’m not so sure you can call this good stuff, but it is what’s currently on my needles: Dressy Jacket in Jo-Ann Sensations Rainbow Boucle that I picked up from the thrift store for, get this, a whopping 59 cents! There’s nothing special about this yarn; it’s just a cheap 88% acrylic and 12% nylon blend, but since I already had the yarn and the pattern, why not? Besides, the variegated rose colorway will go great with a skirt I already have in my closet. I don’t usually like working with boucle yarns, but this is not too bad.
The pattern is from the book Now You’re Knitting that I picked up a few days ago from Tuesday Morning. This book is huge (592 pages) with 165 projects! None of the patterns are “blow your mind” exciting, but for only $12.99, I think it was a pretty good deal. Here is a picture of the jacket in the book, as well as a picture of the book itself. And here are the other two books I bought while at Tuesday Morning: Gifts for All Occasions is a Vintage Workshop book with a CD of vintage clip art and projects to make, and Nancie Wiseman’s Classic Crocheted Vests. I bought that one because of the cover vest on the left. I’m not crazy about crochet, but I’ll make an exception for that little beauty.

After I left Tuesday Morning, I went to Jo-Ann’s and picked up a few more goodies.
Three skeins of Bernat Natural Blends Cashmere in a brown color they call “Earth”, and 3 skeins of Patons Classic Wool in Chestnut Brown. I’ve never seen the Bernat yarn before, but it is a very soft 65% acrylic/30% nylon/5% cashmere blend and with the 50% off coupons, I only spent $2.00 a skein. It will make a couple of nice hats for Christmas presents. The Patons was on clearance for half price and with the one other brown skein and 3 variegated skeins I already had at home, I have the makings of a substantial felting project.
Well, I believe that is enough for today. In my next post, I’ll let you have a peek at some upcoming sewing projects. Thank you so much for stopping by and it’s been a real pleasure sharing with you today. Until next time, blog on and God bless.
